Green Sand Filter
In cases where your water contains a combination of iron and manganese, iron and hydrogen sulfide, or is affected by iron bacteria, the utilization of greensand proves to be a highly effective removal method.
Through the application of potassium permanganate, both manganese and soluble iron undergo oxidation and precipitation upon contact with the elevated manganese oxides present on the greensand granules. Additionally, hydrogen sulfide is eradicated through oxidation into sulfate and subsequent formation of an insoluble precipitate. Alternatively, an alternative approach involves injecting chlorine upstream of the greensand filter, enabling the oxidation of iron and/or manganese, subsequently facilitating their removal in the form of colloids.
